COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) softball season continued into Week 3 as now the entire conference enters their RMAC play.
Team Highlights
Regis and New Mexico Highlands split a four game series over the weekend in Las Vegas, NM. It was a back and forth between the two teams till the last inning as each team won a game in each double header.

The Rangers won Games 1 and 3. The first one was a 7-6 contest that was decided by some clutch Ranger pitching despite almost giving up a 7-3 lead. Game Three was a much more dominant 9-0 victory where the Rangers scored six runs in the first four innings and the pitching allowed no runs on only three hits.

The Cowgirls stole Games 2 and 4 thanks to an exciting extra inning game in Game 2 that saw a go ahead triple give them the dub. In Game 4, NMHU scored 11 runs in the second inning to allow them to end the series with a 13-7 victory.
Fort Lewis was able to win three out of four in a series against Adams State this last weekend. The Skyhawks were able to earn their first series win of the 2021 season.

The first double header was highlighted by the Skyhawks bats as they stringed together 18 runs on 27 hits over the course of the two games.

Game Two of the final double header was determined by FLC’s 13 hits, all singles, as it took advantage of a ASU defense that played back to take away extra-base hits on Sunday after the Skyhawks had peppered the gaps in Saturday's doubleheader sweep.
UCCS played six games from Sat-Mon and ended up collecting five wins for their efforts. The Mountain Lions swept a four game series of Black Hills State before splitting two games with Chadron in a Monday doubleheader.

The Mountain Lions outscored the Yellow Jackets 37-11 in the four games and in the two double headers, they were able to collect a five-inning mercy rule in Game 3 where they won 13-4.

Against Chadron, UCCS rebounded after losing 7-10 to win 9-7 in an extra inning Game Two. The Mountain Lions were able to give head coach Ricki Rothbauer-Stubbs a win in her 200th career game.
CSU Pueblo won a four game series against Chadron State over the weekend. With the three wins, the Thunderwolves get back over .500 on the season.

It was a hodgepodge of different game scenarios for the Pack as the series started out with a 5-4 extra inning contest that ended thanks to a walkoff homerun in the ninth inning.

Game Two was a pitchers duel where CSUP allowed only three hits over the entire contest. Then finally, a six-inning mercy rule 9-1 contest sealed the first conference series win of the season for the Pack.
Colorado Mesa moved to 8-0 on the year thanks to a four-game series sweep of Colorado School of Mines in Grand Junction over the weekend.

The Mavericks started out the series with a dominating 18-0 mercy rule game where the offense dished out 11 hits and forced the Orediggers to commit five errors before the game was over.

On Sunday, The Mavericks scored 14 of their 17 total runs in three big innings of four or five runs and hit five home runs throughout the day to complete the sweep.
Players of the Week
- Colorado Mesa’s Lauren Wedman is the RMAC Player of the Week after she hit .538 (7-13) with two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs as the Mavericks swept a four-game series with the Colorado School of Mines. Wedman also scored six runs, slugged at a 1.154 clip and had a .571 on-base percentage, good for a 1.714 OPS throughout the weekend. Wedman now has an 18-game hitting streak and has reached safely in 24 consecutive games dating back to last season.
- CSU Pueblo’s Oakleigh Kearby is the RMAC Pitcher of the Week as she improved to 3-0 after she threw her third complete game and allowed just three hits and one run in Saturday's win against Chadron State. Kearby allowed zero walks in her outing and struck out eight batters, holding the Eagles to a .143 batting average. Kearby sits fourth in the RMAC in wins and is second among freshmen.
Individual HIghlights
- CSU Pueblo’s Gabby Moreno went 7-for-15 (.467 average), and hit one double, scoring five runs and earning a .533 slugging and .529 on-base percentage in CSU Pueblo's series win at home against Chadron State.
- UCCS’ Solana Martinez led the Mountain Lions offense in a home sweep over Black Hills State. She batted .538 with a 1.308 slugging percentage and a .571 OB percentage. Martinez collected 7 hits, scored 8 runs and drove in 4 runners. 3 of her hits were HRs. In the series opener, she went 2-for-3 with 2R and 2 RBI. Both hits were extra base hits (HR, 2B) ... In game 2 of the series, Martinez tallied 3 hits and scored twice. Defensively she collected 5 putouts and assisted on 9.
- Fort Lewis’ Shebly Hotchkiss was a catalyst in the middle of the FLC batting order over the weekend, finishing 8-of-13 with seven runs scored and three RBI in four games against Adams State. Hotchkiss went 3-for-4 in both games on Saturday, highlighted by her first HR in a FLC uniform that gave the Skyhawks the lead for good in the 8th inning.
- Regis’ Jessi Case batted a 10-12 through the four-game series with NMHU. She scored seven runs and three RBI's. Had one homer and seven stolen bags as well. Played a crucial offensive role when Regis needed hits.
- Chadron State’s Mackenzi Kroll had five RBIs and four runs scored in six games this weekend. Her two home runs were a team high for the week, and she walked three times. She also added a triple. She led the team in slugging for the week at an .875 percentage.
- UCCS’ Braelyne Crenshaw helped the Mountain Lions to a series sweep at home against BHSU. Crenshaw went 2-0 in the circle with a 2.15 on the weekend. She opened the series with a 6-1 complete game win, allowing only one run, one 4 hits and fanning 9 batters. On Sunday, she picked up an 8-3 win in the series finale, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits and striking out six batters. In the two wins, UCCS outscored BHSU 14-4 as Crenshaw totaled 15 strikeouts.
- CMU’s Shea Mauser recorded a 2-0 record and 0.70 ERA as she gave up just seven hits and no walks in ten innings of work during the Mavericks' series sweep of the Colorado School of Mines. On Saturday, Mauser worked three innings of nearly flawless relief giving up just two hits and no runs as the Mavericks came from behind to take the second game of the doubleheader, 9-8. She then got the start in Game 3 of the series on Sunday, tossing a 5-hit complete game effort that the Mavericks won, 7-3. She allowed just one earned run in that game. Mauser also recorded five strikeouts and held the Orediggers to a .194 batting average throughout the weekend.
- Regis’ Taylor Armitage Pitched a shutout in Game One against NMHU and only allowed 3 hits. In the two games she pitched, allowed just 2 earned runs and only 4 walks. Had 5 strikeouts.
