COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women’s lacrosse continued its season into Week Nine this last week as two top teams in the conference extended their winning streaks and made their case for favorite in the RMAC Tournament.
Team Highlights
Regis is the first team in the conference to reach double-digits after downing CSU Pueblo in two games last week by a combined score of 43-9.

Regis had the ninth best offense in the country as they average 25.00 points per game and currently lead the RMAC in goals and points per game.

Against the Pack, the 22 goals they scored in the second ties a season-high for most in a game.
Westminster collected two wins in the three games they played this last week. They won 18-14 on Tuesday against UC-Colorado Springs and then downed Adams State 22-1 on Sunday to end the week.

The Griffins earned a crucial win over UCCS thanks to a crucial performance on the defensive end as they made 19 saves against the Mountain Lions.

Against the Grizzlies, the dominating offensive performance saw WC dish out 42 shots, 34 on goal, 27 ground balls, 20 draw control wins and four caused turnovers while Adams State took eight shots with three on goal.
Colorado Mesa picked up a lone 19-8 win over Fort Lewis on Sunday that allowed the Mavericks to move to 6-3 on the year and extend their winning streak to five in a row.

The Mavericks have not lost at home this year as they are 3-0 at Maverick Field.

Both teams were even as both teams were tied at 5-5 before the Mavericks exploded to score 10 more goals compared to the Skyhawks’ one goal in the remainder of the first half.
Players of the Week
- Westminster’s Eden Freiberg is the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week after she recorded 18 points this weekend. She scored five goals for the Griffins in their loss to Fort Lewis. She scored seven goals and had two assists for nine points in a win over Adams State on Sunday. She took 16 shots with 15 on goal and was 3-5 on free position shots.
- Regis’ Jessica Berg is the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week followng monster defensive outing, leading the team in caused turnovers in both wins vs. CSU Pueblo. In total she had 15 total draw controls, seven caused turnovers and nine ground balls.
Individual Highlights
- Colorado Mesa’s Taylor Jakeman led the attack over the weekend, tallying a season high four goals and four ground balls in a 19-8 conference win over Fort Lewis. The sophomore out of Wellington, New Zealand was 4-for-4 in shots on goal, and has put up four points in back-to-back games to keep the Mavericks undefeated in conference action.
- Regis’ Kyleigh Peoples posted 12 points through two wins against CSU Pueblo this past week. She had four points in the first game (scoring on all four shots that she took) and then followed up with eight in the second game for a 6.0 points per game average.
- Colorado Mesa’s Kelsey Viger caused three turnovers, and scooped up three ground balls to boost Colorado Mesa to a win over Fort Lewis. Viger kept the Skyhawks scoreless for over thirty minutes, giving way for the Mavericks to spark a 8-0 run to cap off the first half. The Mavericks remain undefeated in conference play and are riding a five game winning streak.
- Westminster’s Lauren Shoughro picked up five ground balls, recorded three caused turnovers and won three draw controls against Fort Lewis and Adams State this weekend. She led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers against Fort Lewis on Friday. She had a single ground ball and three draw control wins on Sunday against Adams State. She scored one goal in the close loss to Fort Lewis and had three goals and an assist in the win over Adams State.
