CSM's Marchando Tabbed RMAC Summit Award Winner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines' Sydney Marchando was named the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Softball Summit Award winner on Wednesday.
 
The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating at the final sites for each of the RMAC championships.
 
All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.
 
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above, who participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the championship. Graduate students are not eligible.
 
Sydney Marchando has a 3.992 GPA, majoring in Chemical Engineering. The senior from Highlands Ranch, Colo. is a two-time Academic All-District and First-Team Academic All-RMAC honoree in her career, earning Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors in 2019. A multiple-time RMAC Pitcher of the Week, Marchando owns a 30-16 record with two saves over her four-year career with an ERA of 3.39 in 342.1 innings and 74 appearances. She ranks in the Mines all-time top-five in career strikeouts, wins, and ERA.
 
Marchando will be recognized prior to the Orediggers’ game against Regis on Thursday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. MST in Grand Junction, Colorado.
