BHSU’s Eben, Quinones and Mines’ Click Named RMAC Football Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State’s Chance Eben and Nathaniel Quinones and Colorado School of Mines’ Jacob Click are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Eben claims Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 51-48 double-overtime victory against Adams State over the weekend. The sophomore closed out the contest completing 16 of his 27 passing attempts for 190 yards. He also tabbed 19 rushing attempts for 138 yards and a trio of touchdowns.
Quinones earns Defensive Player of the Week accolades after a monstrous outing against Adams State where he claimed 21 total tackles and 17 solo tackles. The freshman did not shy away from the moment and recorded 2.5 tackles for loss in BHSU’s double-overtime thriller.
Click nabs Special Teams Player of the Week distinctions after pushing No. 5 Colorado School of Mines to a 21-13 comeback victory on the road against West Texas A&M on Saturday. The junior converted all three of his PATs and tabbed six punts for an average distance of 36.8 yards.
Offensive Player of the Week: Chance Eben, Black Hills State – So. – QB – Greeley, Colo.
Eben led the Yellow Jackets in their 51-48 double-overtime victory at home over Adams State Saturday, closing out the game with a 17-yard rushing touchdown in the final seconds of the contest. The Greeley, Colo., native rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while also dealing out 190 passing yards. He completed 16 of his 27 passing attempts and averaged 5.9 yards per rushing attempt.
Defensive Player of the Week: Nathaniel Quinones, Black Hills State – Fr. – S – Peoria, Ariz.
Quinones was all over the field for BHSU Saturday and led the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 21 tackles, 17 of which were unassisted. He also stamped 2.5 tackles for loss, including a solo tackle in the ASU backfield during the second overtime period, which limited the Grizzlies to a field goal on the drive and led to BHSU’s game-winning drive.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Jacob Click, Colorado School of Mines – Jr. – P/K – Frisco, Texas
Click helped the No. 5-ranked Orediggers win the field-position battle in their 21-13 victory on the road against West Texas A&M over the weekend. He recorded six punts throughout the contest, placing three attempts inside the West Texas A&M 20-yard line. His longest punt of the game was a 60-yard bomb that pushed his average to 36.8 yards for the contest. The junior was also a perfect 3-for-3 on PATs, which padded the lead for Colorado School of Mines in its second road win of the season.
