Borgenheimer, Mortenson Named RMAC Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Lily Borgenheimer and Western Colorado’s Sarah Mortenson are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, the league announced Thursday.
Borgenheimer earns her third Swimmer of the Week honor this season after pushing the Mavericks to a tie for first place against Air Force last week at the Air Force Tri-Meet. The junior took top honors in each of her events to continue her success in the 2021-22 season.
Mortenson claimed a pair of career performances for the Mountaineers last month as Western Colorado topped Adams State 215-57 on WCU’s senior day (Dec. 4). The senior qualified for the NCAA Division II national meet with a first-place performance in the one-meter dive event.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Lily Borgenheimer, Colorado Mesa – Jr. – Chippewa Falls, Wis.
Borgenheimer won each of her individual events and set another NCAA provisional qualifying time at the Air Force Tri-Meet event last week. Her efforts boosted the Mavs into a first-place tie with the Division I Falcons and extended CMU’s RMAC dual-meet win streak to 32-consecutive wins with a 188-51 victory over Colorado School of Mines. The junior captured a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley, beating the second-place finisher by a 14.2-second margin with a final time of 4:35.63. She then won the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:04.79 finish helping the Mavericks win each of the final five events of the meet. Borgenheimer paces the RMAC in six disciplines this season and has qualified for the NCAA meet in five of those events.
Women’s Diver of the Week: Sarah Mortenson, Western Colorado – Sr. – Aurora, Colo.
Mortenson threw down an impressive performance for the Mountaineers, setting two program records on senior day against Adams State (Dec. 4). The Aurora, Colo., native qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in the one-meter diving event after taking first place honors with 432.9 points. Her performances helped the Mountaineers defeat the Grizzlies by a score of 215-57.
