Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit, Shjon Andrews and Brian Doherty Named RMAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Regis’ Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit, Colorado State University Pueblo’s Shjon Andrews and Colorado School of Mines’ Brian Doherty are the final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Carlson-Du Toit collects his first RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Rangers (8-4-4, 4-2-2 RMAC) to a pair of victories last weekend. The sophomore opened the weekend with a pair of goals and an assist in a 4-3 victory Friday over Fort Lewis. Eleven minutes into the final regular season match for the Rangers, he recorded a goal in the 2-0 win over Adams State.
Carlson-Du Toit and the Rangers claimed the fifth seed in the RMAC Tournament and will face the fourth seeded University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Oct. 27. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. MT at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Andrews claims his second RMAC Defensive Player of the Week distinction of the season after leading the ThunderWolves’ (14-3-1, 8-1-1) defense to a pair of shutouts this weekend. On Wednesday, Andrews and the Pack only allowed UCCS’ offense to one shot on goal in a 1-0 win. The senior recorded the game-winning goal at the 40-minute mark. He followed the goal four minutes later assisting on another ThunderWolves goal in a 2-0 victory Sunday against Metropolitan State University Denver.
The ThunderWolves enjoy a bye as the No. 2 seed in the RMAC Tournament. They will take on the winner of Colorado Christian and Westminster on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.
For the second time this season, Doherty earns RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after recording nine saves in the Orediggers’ (12-42, 9-1 RMAC) unbeaten weekend. Doherty registered eight saves and a 1.000 save percentage in Friday’s 3-0 win over Colorado Mesa. Throughout the season, he recorded 630 minutes of scoreless play leading the Orediggers to their sixth consecutive RMAC regular season title.
No.1 Mines earns a bye in the first-round of the RMAC tournmanet and will play the winner of Regis and UCCS in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2:30 p.m. at Stermole Soccer Stadium in Golden, Colo.

Carlson-Du Toit led the Rangers to a pair of wins over the weekend to close out the regular season. The Rangers’ offensive anchor combined for a trio of goals and one assist, helping the team secure a spot in the RMAC Tournament. The sophomore striker netted two goals and dished out an assist in a crucial 4-3 victory over the Skyhawks on Friday. He found the net once again on Sunday after he with the game-winner in the opening 15 minutes of a 2-0 win over the Grizzlies.

Defensive Player of the Week: Shjon Andrews, CSU Pueblo – Sr. – D – Longmont, Colo.
Andrews led CSU Pueblo to a 2-0 week to close out conference play and clinch the No. 2 seed in the RMAC Tournament. He played a large role in the Pack’s 1-0 win over the Mountain Lions on Wednesday, anchoring a defense that boasted a clean sheet despite facing eight shots. The Longmont, Colo., native collected three points on one goal and an assist Sunday in a 2-0 win over the Roadrunners.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Brian Doherty, Mines – Gr. – GK – Seattle, Wash.
Doherty led the Orediggers to their sixth consecutive RMAC regular-season title after two shutout appearances last weekend. He was perfect in goal against the Mavericks with a 1.000 save percentage on eight saves to lead his squad to the 3-0 victory. The graduate student recorded a 45-minute shutout in the 4-0 win over the Griffins on Sunday.
