COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ John Matocha joins Western Colorado’s Tim Mullin and Victory David as the latest Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Matocha earns his first Offensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Orediggers (3-2, 3-0 RMAC) to a 45-point comeback to topple Chadron State 45-9 on the road last weekend. The senior quarterback led the No. 14/22 Mines program with completions on 24 of his 32 passing attempts to close the game with four touchdowns through the air for 319 passing yards. The Magnolia, Texas, native captured a 193.7 quarterback efficiency rating for the contest while averaging 9.9 yards per pass.

Up next, Colorado School of Mines will return home with its unbeaten conference record to host Colorado Mesa. Kickoff against the Mavericks is slated for noon MT on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Alumni Field inside Marv Kay Stadium in Golden, Colo.

Mullin earns his first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Mountaineers (3-2, 3-0 RMAC) to a 42-34 double-overtime victory on the road against Colorado Mesa last weekend. The redshirt senior was lights out from the safety position for Western Colorado, racking up 10 total tackles and one interception in Grand Junction, Colo., on Saturday.

David earns Special Teams Player of the Week after a starring role in the Mountaineers’ double overtime victory over Colorado Mesa on Saturday. The wide receiver was also critical for WCU special teams, returning a trio of kickoffs, one from endzone to endzone, for an average of 49 yards per return. His 49 yards per return stands as a conference record, besting the previous record of 39.4 yards, which was set by LaVon Reis of Western Colorado in the 1993 season.
