COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Kerstin Layman and Sabrina VanDeList join South Dakota Mines’ Jacey Koethe as the week six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Koethe secures her first Offensive Player of the Week honor this season for her outing in the Hardrockers’ (5-11, 2-6 RMAC) road split last weekend. In Friday’s match against MSU Denver, Koethe put down 10 kills for a .643 hitting percentage in a loss to the No. 2 Roadrunners. The redshirt sophomore recorded a career-high 23 kills in South Dakota Mines’ five-set comeback victory over Colorado Christian on Saturday. For the weekend, Koethe combined for 33 kills and a .444 hitting percentage while adding in five digs and a trio of service aces.
 
Layman earns her first Defensive Player of the Week distinction of the season after combining for 32 digs in a pair of victories for the Mavericks (11-4, 6-2 RMAC) over the weekend. The redshirt senior recorded 19 digs in Friday’s sweep of Fort Lewis before adding 13 more digs in Saturday’s four-set victory against Western Colorado. Layman and the Mavericks’ defense held their opponents to just a combined .096 hitting percentage for the weekend.
 
VanDeList earns her first Setter of the Week honor for the 2022 campaign after registering a combined 77 assists over seven sets while propelling the Mavericks to a pair of wins last weekend. averaging 11 assists per set. While averaging 11 assists per set, VanDeList also surpassed 2,000 career assists in Friday’s sweep of Fort Lewis, where she accounted for 43 assists. She then compiled 34 assists in Saturday’s four-set victory over Western Colorado.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Jacey Koethe, South Dakota Mines – Sr. – MB – West Des Moines, Iowa
Koethe led the Hardrockers’ offense to a weekend split against MSU Denver and Colorado Christian last weekend. Over eight sets, she averaged 4.12 kills while recording a combined .444 hitting average for South Dakota Mines.  In a comeback victory of Colorado Christian on Saturday, the West Des Moines, Iowa, native shined with a career-high 23 kills in the five-set showdown. She also added three blocks and three service aces to lead her team to victory over the Cougars on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kerstin Layman, Colorado Mesa – R-Sr. – L – Littleton, Colo.
Layman controlled the back row for the Mavericks with 32 digs for an average of 4.57 digs per set in Colorado Mesa’s weekend sweep. The Littleton, Colo., native currently ranks sixth in the RMAC in total digs (246) and second in the league in digs per set (4.92) this season.

Setter of the Week: Sabrina VanDeList, Colorado Mesa – R-So. – S – Severance, Colo.
VanDeList led the Mavericks to an unbeaten weekend after combining for 77 assists and eight service aces. She eclipsed the 2,000-career assist mark in Friday’s sweep over Fort Lewis with 43 assists against the Skyhawks. The Littleton, Colo., native dished out 34 more assists and four more aces on Saturday in a victory against Western Colorado. She is currently ranked fourth in the league for total assists (552), second in assists per set (11.04) and third in the league for service aces (24).
