RMAC Men’s Soccer Academic All-Conference Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Michael Sprauer is the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Academic Player of the Year, the league announced Monday alongside its All-Academic First Team roster and Honor Roll list.

Sprauer claims the honor following a stellar regular-season campaign for the Orediggers where he netted five goals, two game-winners, to help his squad claim its sixth RMAC regular-season title in program history. The graduate midfielder has played and started in 18 matches this season, racking up 1,401 minutes on the pitch. He ranks fifth on the Mines team with 10 points and holds a .500 shots-on-goal percentage.

The Albuquerque, N.M., native is no slouch in the classroom as well and holds an impressive 3.94 grade-point average as an electrical engineering major. He was named an All-Conference First Team selection and has played a pivotal role in the Orediggers’ postseason path to the RMAC Tournament Championship match, which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4, at Stermole Soccer Stadium in Golden, Colo.

The Orediggers earned a league-best three first-team selections in Sprauer, Grant Bell and Azad Iliozer, while Colorado State University Pueblo and Metropolitan State University of Denver each account for two honorees. Colorado Mesa, Fort Lewis, Regis and University of Colorado Colorado Springs round out the first team with one roster spot apiece.

Of the 11-man first-team roster, Colorado Mesa’s David Peters, CSU Pueblo’s Kenshin Uneo, MSU Denver’s Bryson Chiles and Ross Miller and Regis’ Kristian Hooker hold a perfect 4.0 GPA.
