DENVER, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Rylee Hladky is the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, the league announced Thursday in addition to the league’s other individual honors and all-conference awards. RMAC individual awards and all-conference teams are voted on by the league’s 15 head coaches. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their players.

For a second consecutive season, Hladky claims the RMAC Volleyball Player of the Year honor after leading the Roadrunners to a 25-1 overall record and an undefeated 18-0 run in conference play, giving MSU Denver the No. 1 seed in the 2022 RMAC Volleyball Tournament. The junior ranks second in the conference and 41st nationally with 4.25 points per set this season. With 309 kills in regular-season play, Hladky averages 3.55 kills per set, leading the Roadrunners to a No. 1 national ranking heading into postseason play.

Colorado State University Pueblo’s Payton Van Veen claims the RMAC Freshman of the Year honors after a stellar 2022 campaign that led the ThunderWolves to a 19-7 overall record and a 12-6 conference mark.  Van Veen has produced 274 kills for the Pack with a stellar .289 hitting percentage for a team that ranks 21st nationally for hitting percentage. The redshirt freshman is also responsible for 3.46 points per set. Over 91 sets and 26 matches, Van Veen has helped CSU Pueblo punch its ticket into the RMAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed.

For the second consecutive season, Kerstin Layman secures the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year accolade. Layman has controlled the back line for No. 17 Colorado Mesa with 442 digs and 5.14 digs per set, which both rank second in the conference. The libero also registers a tremendous .964 reception percentage in 25 matches played. The Mavericks earned the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament with a 15-3 conference record.

Colorado School of Mines’ Drew Stokes is the RMAC Setter of the Year for the second consecutive season and the third time in her career after pacing the No. 22 Orediggers throughout the 2022 campaign. Stokes currently ranks second in the nation for assists per set (11.96) and 21st nationally in total assists (1,076). Stokes and the Orediggers secured a 20-5 overall record and a 15-3 mark in conference action to claim the No. 4 seed in the RMAC Tournament.

MSU Denver head coach Jenny Glenn is the RMAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading the Roadrunners to another unbeaten conference record. Glenn has her squad ready to roll as the Roadrunners are the No. 1 team in the nation heading into the RMAC Tournament. MSU Denver ranks within the nation’s top 10 in four categories, including hitting percentage (.290), opponent hitting percentage (.112), blocks per set (2.52) and assists per set (13.06).
