Sabrina VanDeList Named RMAC Volleyball Summit Award Winner
DENVER, Colo. – Colorado Mesa redshirt sophomore Sabrina VanDeList is the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Summit Award winner, the league announced Friday. VanDeList claims the league’s latest academic honor with a 4.0 grade-point average as an elementary education major for the Mavericks.
VanDeList captures the academic honor after helping the Mavs close out regular-season play with a 15-3 conference record, earning the No. 3 seed at the 2022 RMAC Volleyball Tournament. The Severance, Colo., native is crucial for the CMU offense and currently ranks fifth in the nation with 11.42 assists per set this season. She also ranks first in the conference with 51 service aces on the year and most recently pushed the Mavericks into the semifinal round of the RMAC Tournament with a sweep of Colorado Christian on Thursday. The setter paces an efficient offense for the Mavericks that ranks fourth in the nation with 14.60 team kills per set.
The Summit Award is just the latest academic honor for VanDeList as she was also named the RMAC Volleyball Academic Player of the Year earlier this week. VanDeList and the Mavs will continue their postseason run Friday evening in the semifinal round of the conference tournament where CMU will square off against No. 2 seed Regis inside Auraria Event Center on the campus of MSU Denver. First serve is slated for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on the
RMAC Network.
The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA that is also competing at the site of the finals for their respective sport’s championship. Summit Award winners must have competed in 20 percent of available competitions throughout the current season. All GPAs are based on a straight-grading scale to ensure consistency among nominees. All ties are broken by the total number of credit hours completed through the most recently concluded semester.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above and have participated in their sport at their institution for at least two years. Student-athletes must be active members of their teams, traveling and competing at the RMAC championship event. Graduate students are not eligible to win the award.
