2022 RMAC Women's Cross Country All-Academic Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Colorado School of Mines' Duncan Fuehne and Zoe Baker are the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Academic Runners of the Year, respectively, the league announced Thursday. In addition to Fuehne and Baker's individual honors, the league also announced the 2022 Men's and Women's Cross Country First Team Academic All-Conference and honor roll rosters. The RMAC Academic All-Conference teams are voted on by the league's 15 sports information directors.

Fuehne is the RMAC Men's Cross Country Academic Runner of the Year after claiming a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships with a time of 29:48.3 in the 10k race, helping Mines to a national championship. He finished fifth at the RMAC Championships with a 24:43.6 in the 8k event, earning first-team all-conference honors along the way. In the classroom, Fuehne has secured a 3.98 grade-point average (GPA) as a physics major for the Orediggers.

Baker locks up her third consecutive RMAC Women's Cross Country Academic Runner of the Year honor for the Orediggers. Her latest award comes after earning first-team all-conference honors at the 2022 RMAC Championship, where she crossed the finish line in 14th place with a time of 22:22.9. Baker also competed at the NCAA Championships where she helped the Orediggers claim a third-place team finish. Baker carries a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in computer science.

Both Baker and Fuehne also received the NCAA Elite 90 award at the NCAA DII Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships earlier this month. The Elite 90 award is given to the student-athletes who reach the NCAA Championship in their sport and also achieve high honors in the classroom.

Colorado Christian's Isaac Russo carries the only 4.0 GPA on the men's first-team roster as a business administration major. On the women's side, Colorado Mesa's Kendall White, Mines' Baker and Grace Strongman, Metropolitan State University of Denver's Heidi Yagen, University of Colorado Colorado Springs' Riley McGrath and Western Colorado's Allison Beasley each hold flawless 4.0 GPAs.

Of the 14 honorees on the men's first team, five RMAC institutions are represented, while eight schools are represented on the women's side.
