COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Upon approval from the Presidents’ Council and Athletic Administrators Council, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced its tiebreaker policy to determine regular-season champions, tournament qualifiers and seeding for the 2021-22 men’s and women’s basketball seasons. The determination was finalized this week after assessing the total number of canceled games during the regular season due to COVID-19.

Regular-season men’s and women’s basketball champions will be determined by final conference win percentage, regardless of the number of games completed. If there is a tie for first place, all teams tied by winning percentage will be awarded a share of the RMAC regular-season title.

If multiple tied teams win the regular-season title, their RMAC Tournament seeding will be determined based on regular RMAC tiebreakers (head-to-head, performance indicator, record against ranked teams in order, coin flip).

All teams finishing outside of the first-place position will be seeded using the Performance Indicator (PI). When comparing PI figures, only contests included in the conference schedule shall be included in the calculation. If there is still a tie after comparing PI, the ties will be broken by head-to-head records and then records against ranked teams in order and finally a coin flip.

The RMAC men’s and women’s basketball tournament fields will be announced by the league upon the conclusion of all regular-season contests on Saturday, which will include the final PI standings.
