Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Brandi Haller and Colorado Christian’s Alexis Hamilton are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Haller earns RMAC Player of the Week honors after pushing the Mavericks (37-5, 29-1 RMAC) to their 13th consecutive win over the weekend following a four-game sweep of UCCS on the road. She was explosive at the plate with all four of her hits resulting in home runs for Colorado Mesa, which drove in an impressive 11 RBI. She rang up 16 bases throughout the series, finished the series with a 1.600 slugging percentage and notched a .400 batting average against the Mountain Lions.
 
Hamilton claims her first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after her role in the Cougars’ (41-5, 29-1 RMAC) series sweep on the road over Adams State last weekend. Hamilton was dominant in the circle for Colorado Christian, employing nine innings of work to earn 17 strikeouts on the week. In her first appearance against the Grizzlies, she threw down a no-hitter, which stands as the first in CCU program history. For the series, she held batters to a .125 batting average and improved to 8-1 on the season.
 
Up next, Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa will meet for a decisive four-game series this weekend. The Mavs and the Cougars will open the series with a doubleheader beginning Saturday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. MT. CCU will host the Mavericks in the series, which will be played at the Cougars’ All Star Park in Lakewood, Colo.
 
Softball Player of the Week: Brandi Haller, Colorado Mesa – R-Jr. – OF – Grand Junction, Colo.
Haller registered back-to-back games with two home runs in Friday's doubleheader sweep of UCCS. In her opening two appearances against the Mountain Lions, she racked up four homers while driving in 11 runs in the doubleheader. She also scored five runs and had two walks while going 4-for-5 during her opening two performances. Haller finished the weekend sweep with a 1.600 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage, which was good for a 2.171 OPS.
 
Softball Pitcher of the Week: Alexis Hamilton, Colorado Christian – Jr. – RHP – El Paso, Texas
Taking on the Grizzlies in game one of the series on Friday, Hamilton was nearly perfect, twirling a no-hitter and coming just one walk shy of a perfect game. Hamilton fanned 11 batters on her way to the no-no, helping her etch her name in the Cougars’ record book. She then followed up with another excellent performance, earning her eighth victory of the season the following day with four innings of work and six more strikeouts.
