COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adams State’s Roisin Flanagan and Colorado Mesa’s Mica Jenrette are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.

Flanagan closed the weekend in peak form and set the NCAA Division II record in the women’s 5,000m event at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. She crossed the finish line with a 15:28.41 to finish 10th overall in a stacked field. Her performance marks her season-opening appearance for the Grizzlies as Flanagan now holds the fastest time of the 2022 season by more than 30 seconds.

Adams State has now completed its regular-season slate and will now turn its attention to the 2022 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which begin Friday, April 29. The conference championships will be hosted by Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D., and will serve as a three-day event.

Jenrette earns Field Athlete of the Week distinctions after setting a school record in the heptathlon for the Mavericks last weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. The junior notched 4,982 points to break a program record, which she previously set, and finished 11th overall in a field of 25 competitors loaded with NCAA DI athletes.

Colorado Mesa has also completed its 2022 regular-season slate and will look ahead to the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Mavs will enjoy nine days of rest before beginning postseason competition.
