Zoe Baker, Josie Coffey Tabbed RMAC Women’s Outdoor Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Zoe Baker and Colorado Mesa’s Josie Coffey are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.
Baker claims Track Athlete of the Week after a speedy 10,000-meter performance for the Orediggers last weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. The Mines distance standout captured 16th place in a stacked field of NCAA Division I talent after crossing the finish line with a time of 33:52.75. Baker’s finish places her first in the RMAC and third in the nation this season. The performance was also a NCAA DII mark for the 2022 campaign.
Colorado School of Mines returns to action this weekend at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo. The Orediggers will take part in the two-day meet, which is slated to begin Friday, April 8, at the University of Colorado’s Potts Field.
Coffey secures Field Athlete of the Week distinctions after stamping a first-place finish in the high jump for Colorado Mesa last weekend at the Maverick Invite in Grand Junction, Colo. The junior claimed a NCAA provisional mark in the high jump after clearing 1.72m (5’7.75”) to beat the second-place finisher by more than two inches. Coffey also competed in the javelin throw in the meet, where she placed fifth overall with a 31.02m (101’9”).
Colorado Mesa also turns its attention to the Colorado Invitational this weekend, where the Mavs look to claim more provisional marks.
