Zoe Baker Named RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year
2021-22 RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Full Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Zoe Baker is the 2021-22 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. In addition to her individual award, Baker was also named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team, which was also announced Wednesday. The RMAC All-Academic squad is voted on by the league’s sports information directors. Sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their student-athletes.
Baker claims the award on the heels of a record-setting indoor season, where she earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award for the second time in her career. The redshirt junior owns a flawless 4.0 grade-point average as a double major in computer science and applied mathematics. Baker has consistently been a top performer in the classroom and on the track as she most recently earned First Team All-America honors in the 5,000-meter event with a sixth-place finish a the 2021-22 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Longmont, Colo., native also earned a 10th-place finish in the 3,000m race at the NCAA Indoor Championships, cementing her second All-America honor of the 2021-22 season.
University of Colorado Colorado Springs leads the way among the first-team roster with three selections in Riley McGrath, Melissa Moreni and Kayla Zink. Colorado Mesa is represented by Josie Coffey and Mica Jenrette, while CSU Pueblo’s Yasmine Hernandez and Jenna McKinley also nabbed spots on the first team. Western Colorado also claimed a pair of honorees in Katie Doucette and Kaiya Firor. Adams State’s Franziska Althaus and Mines’ Baker round out the roster of first-team honorees.
