2021-22 RMAC Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Lily Borgenheimer is the 2021-22 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday. RMAC All-Academic teams are voted on by the league’s sports information directors. Sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their student-athletes.

Borgenheimer’s award is the latest in a long list of accolades this season for the redshirt junior, who claimed a national championship in the women’s 200-yard breaststroke at the 2021-22 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships. She is the first Colorado Mesa swimmer to capture a national title in school history. Borgenheimer, who was also named the 2021-22 RMAC Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Year, claimed seven RMAC All-Conference honors, in addition to her seven conference titles, four individual and three relays. The Chippewa Falls, Wisc., native holds a 3.68 grade-point average as a liberal arts major.

Along with her individual honor, Borgenheimer was also named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team and was joined by five other CMU teammates. The Mavericks lead the way among first-team selections with Borgenheimer, Jolynn Harris, Ali Lange, Katerina Matoskova, Emily Moreland and Lauren White. Colorado School of Mines checks in next with a pair of honorees in Meghan Slowey and Erin Taggart. CSU Pueblo’s Kristen Wolf and Oklahoma Christian’s Cheyenne Parks round out the all-academic roster.

To qualify for RMAC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA through the most recently completed term. Qualifiers must also have been a student at their respective institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters and must use a season of competition.
