Zoe Baker Named RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year
2022 RMAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Zoe Baker is the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday. The award marks the third RMAC Women’s Academic Athlete of the Year for Baker, who headlines the league’s 2022 All-Academic First Team. The RMAC All-Academic First Team is voted on by the league’s sports information directors. When voting, sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their student-athletes.
Baker’s academic sweep is just the latest of her achievements as the redshirt junior was also named the RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Summit Award winner and Women’s Indoor Academic Athlete of the Year. While she has already compiled an impressive academic and athletic resume throughout the 2021-22 school year, Baker is not quite finished as she has also qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5,000-meter and 10,000m events. Entering the national meet, Baker ranks 17th in the nation in the 5k event and sixth nationally in the 10k race. The Longmont, Colo., native currently holds a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a double major in computer science and applied mathematics and statistics.
University of Colorado Colorado Springs leads the way among the RMAC All-Academic First Team with four honorees in Layla Almasri, Audrey Bloomquist, Hannah Ellis and Kayla Zink. Joining Baker on the roster from Colorado School of Mines is Hannah Miller. Colorado State University Pueblo also nabbed two spots with Jenna McKinley and Yasmine Hernandez. Rounding out the first-team roster is Colorado Mesa’s Josie Coffey and New Mexico Highlands’ Annie Topal.
There are five student-athletes on the first team holding a 4.0 GPA, including Baker, Bloomquist, Coffey, McKinley and Topal.
