COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Coming off its 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament championship, Colorado Mesa receives 97 points and eight first-place votes to top the 2022 RMAC Men’s Soccer preseason poll. The RMAC preseason poll is voted on by the league's 11 head coaches. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their program.

The Mavericks enter the season following a strong 2021 campaign where they finished with a 16-4-2 overall record, which included a third-round loss in the NCAA tournament to eventual national champion Cal State LA. The Mavs return seven starters from last season, including All-American Ethan Anderson and All-Region honorees Connor Durant and Alec Fronapfel. Anderson was voted last season’s RMAC Defender of the Year, while Durant took home RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Heading into the 2022 season, the team is ranked ninth in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.

Colorado School of Mines comes in second in the preseason poll with 92 points and three first-place votes. Lucas King headlines a slew of returning starters for Mines after earning All-America honors during the 2021 campaign. King boasts 52 points on 12 goals and 28 assists throughout his career with the Orediggers. Reigning RMAC Coach of the Year Greg Mulholland aims to put Mines back into the NCAA tournament after closing the 2021 season with a 14-4-2 overall record and the RMAC regular-season title. The Orediggers enter the 2022 season ranked No. 20 according to the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.

For the second consecutive season, Colorado State University Pueblo claims the third position in preseason voting, earning 84 points. The ThunderWolves were tenacious throughout the 2021 season, nabbing the No. 4 seed in the RMAC Tournament before upsetting top-seeded Colorado School of Mines 2-0 in the semifinals. CSU Pueblo then earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, where it eventually fell in the second round to Cal State LA. Heading into this season, the Pack cracks the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll at No. 23.

Regis enters the season in fourth place with 65 points in preseason voting, followed by Westminster in fifth place with 59 points. Fort Lewis sits sixth overall with 52 points, while Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Colorado Springs are tied for seventh with 48 points apiece.

Colorado Christian collects 31 points for ninth place, while South Dakota Mines and Adams State round out the preseason poll with 15 points and 14 points, respectively.
