CMU’s Casas and MSU Denver’s Votaw, Miller Collect RMAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Manuel Ponce Casas and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Jonas Votaw and Ross Miller are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Casas gathers Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals for the Mavericks in their opening weekend. Of his seven shots on the weekend, six landed on target as the freshman racked up four points for the Mavs.
Votaw claims the Defensive Player of the Week after leading a MSU Denver defense that allowed just two goals on the weekend and shut out Cal State Monterey Bay in a 4-0 victory.
Miller earns the Goalkeeper of the Week distinctions after securing a .714 save percentage for the Roadrunners. He also converted five saves and one clean sheet to help MSU Denver to a 1-0-1 start on the 2022 campaign.
Offensive Player of the Week: Manuel Ponce Casas, Colorado Mesa – Fr. – F – Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Casas scored in each of his first collegiate games for the Mavericks, helping his squad to a 1-1-0 start to the season. He netted the 35th -minute goal for the game-winner in Saturday’s contest against Texas A&M International.

Defensive Player of the Week: Jonas Votaw, MSU Denver – So. – D – Chandler, Ariz.
Votaw had one goal and one assist to boost the Roadrunners to a 1-0-1 record on opening weekend, which included an impressive 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay. Votaw played a combined 155 minutes while leading the Roadrunners’ defensive effort. His penalty-kick goal started the Roadrunners' comeback from a 2-0 deficit which turned into a 2-2 tie against San Francisco State. His corner kick into the box led to an Aaron Biggerstaff goal that made it a 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Ross Miller, MSU Denver – GS. – GK – Kilmarnock, Scotland
Miller made three spectacular saves throughout the weekend, preserving leads of 1-0 in the first half then two saves in the second half with a 2-0 lead in the second half against Cal State Monterey Bay. Miller, who recorded his 12th career shutout over the weekend. He is currently tied for third in saves in the RMAC (5).
