Mines’ Butler, Clingman and Regis’ Martin Named RMAC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines' Laura Butler and Lauren Clingman join Regis' Katelyn Martin as the Week One Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Butler earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after pacing the Orediggers' (2-0-0) attack with one goal and three assists on opening weekend. Her six points led Mines to a perfect start in the 2022 campaign, capturing a pair of wins at home over Texas Woman's and Midwestern State.
Clingman claims the league's Defensive Player of the Week honor after steering the Orediggers' defense to a pair of shutout victories over South Central regional rivals. In addition to limiting Mines' opening two opponents to a combined 15 shots, the sophomore outside back also chipped in one assist in the Orediggers' dominant 4-0 win Thursday over Texas Woman's.
Martin nabs Goalkeeper of the week distinctions after keeping the Rangers (1-0-1) unbeaten on opening weekend with a 1-0 win over Midwestern State on Thursday and a 1-1 draw against Texas Woman's on Sunday. The senior goaltender converted 17 saves for a .944 save percentage in Regis' undefeated week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Laura Butler, Colorado School of Mines – So. – M – Chicago, Ill.
Butler paced the Mines' offense to a nine-goal explosion in a pair of wins last weekend, combining for one goal and four assists in the Orediggers' opening two contests. The sophomore provided the opener, one assist and a match-high six shots in Mines' flawless 4-0 win over Texas Woman's on Thursday. In Saturday's effort against Midwestern State, the Chicago, Ill., native notched a performance for the record books, becoming the third player in Mines program history to record three assists in a contest, two of which aided Reese McDermott in her hat trick.

Defensive Player of the Week: Lauren Clingman, Colorado School of Mines – So. – D – Broomfield, Colo.
Clingman helped her squad to a perfect 2-0-0 start to the season, racking up 175 minutes in two shutouts for the Orediggers. The outside back helped limit opponents to 15 total shots, six shots on goal, for the weekend as Mines strung together a pair of clean sheets. Clingman was also active on the counterattack and provided multiple dangerous runs forward and assisted on the Orediggers' second goal against Texas Woman's on Thursday.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Katelyn Martin, Regis– Sr. – GK – Longmont, Colo.
Martin was sensational through the Rangers' opening weekend, stopping 17 of the 18 shots she faced to help Regis earn four total points against Midwestern State and Texas Women's.
