Halle Theis, Kelsey Gordon and Drew Stokes Named RMAC Volleyball Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Regis’ Halle Theis, Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Kelsey Gordon and Colorado School of Mines’ Drew Stokes are the latest Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Theis nabs Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Rangers (6-4, 2-0 RMAC) to an unbeaten start in conference play, including a sweep of Colorado School of Mines on Wednesday, followed by a four-set win at UCCS on Saturday. She closed the week with 36 kills for an average of 5.14 kills per set in the Rangers’ perfect weekend.
 
Gordon claims Defensive Player of the Week after a monster week at the net for the Roadrunners (9-1, 2-0 RMAC), combining for eight blocks over two matches. In Thursday’s outing against Colorado Mesa, the senior registered five of the Roadrunners’ 14 blocks in the match.
 
Stokes locks up her second Setter of the Week honor of the season after dishing out a combined 80 assists in the Orediggers’ (6-4, 1-1 RMAC) 1-1 outing last week. She averaged 13.33 assists per set and recorded seven kills in Mines’ two matches.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Halle Theis, Regis – Jr. – OH – Geneva, Neb.
Theis shined for Rangers last week, leading the offense with a combined 36 kills in a pair of wins over Colorado School of Mines and UCCS. On Saturday, she notched a career game against UCCS with 26 kills and a .524 hitting percentage. For the week, she totaled 36 kills, bringing her to 118 kills through 10 matches this season, a mark that currently ranks fifth in the RMAC.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kelsey Gordon, MSU Denver – Sr. – RS – Emporia, Kan.
Gordon had an impressive week as she led her team to a 2-0 start to conference play with a strong defensive effort. She tabbed five blocks, two of which were solo blocks, in Thursday’s match against Colorado Mesa. On Saturday, the senior tabbed three blocks in a four-set victory over Fort Lewis. Gordon closed the week with 18 kills and a .405 hitting percentage.

Setter of the Week: Drew Stokes, Colorado School of Mines – Gr. – S – Murphysboro, Ill.
After closing the week with 80 assists, Stokes ranks second in the nation with 12.46 assists per set. She averaged 13.33 assists per set last week to open conference play. In the Orediggers’ two matches, she earned a .500 hitting percentage, helping the Orediggers to a 1-1 start in RMAC play. Across all three NCAA divisions, Stokes currently ranks second among active career leaders in assists per set and third in total assists (436).
