Mountain Lions’ Estrada, Walker, Orediggers’ Barnhart Named Week Four RMAC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Fabiola Estrada and Alexis Walker join Colorado School of Mines’ Jordan Barnhart as the week four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Estrada claims this week’s Offensive Player of the Week honor after pacing the Mountain Lions’ (5-1-2, 2-0-0 RMAC) offense with a pair of goals in each of UCCS’ shutout victories over Western Colorado and Fort Lewis last weekend. The Brighton, Colo., native closed the weekend with a conference-best eight points on four goals from six shots on frame. Estrada holds a .667 shooting percentage for the season and her four goals now rank fourth in the RMAC for the 2022 campaign.
The Mountain Lions continue conference play this weekend with a pair of road games beginning with a bout at Westminster on Friday, Sept. 23. Opening kick is slated for 4 p.m. MT, at the Griffins’ Dumke Field in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Barnhart collects her first RMAC Defensive Player of the Week award this season after pushing the Orediggers (5-1-1, 2-0-0 RMAC) to an unbeaten start in conference play with a pair of shutout road wins against Adams State and New Mexico Highlands over the weekend. Although her primary role for Mines sits on the backline, Barnhart chipped in the Orediggers’ opening goal in a 2-0 affair over Adams State on Friday. She then steered the Orediggers’ defense to a perfect outing against the Grizzlies, where they did not allow a single shot in the 3-0 victory.
Up next, Mines returns home to host Black Hills State on Friday, Sept. 23. Kickoff against the Yellow Jackets is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Stermole Soccer Stadium in Golden, Colo.
Walker nabs her first Goalkeeper of the Week honor of the season after blanking the Mountain Lions’ two opponents last weekend. She played all 180 minutes in the net for UCCS and combined for five saves against her two opponents. She now has five shutouts on the season, has made 27 saves on the year and holds a .844 save percentage.
Offensive Player of the Week: Fabiola Estrada, UCCS – R-Sr. – M – Brighton, Colo.
It was a career outing for Estrada as she fueled a pair of conference shutouts over Western Colorado and Fort Lewis last weekend. She paced the Mountain Lions’ attack with eight points off four goals after securing a brace in each game. Her stellar offensive performance came off six shots, each shot landing on target, for a perfect 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage. Estrada also added her first career game-winning goal after scoring the opener in the shutout victory over the Skyhawks.

Against the Grizzlies, she scored the opening goal of the match and proceeded to lead a defensive unit that did not allow a shot attempt for the duration of the game. Against the Cowgirls, she led another strong defensive effort that saw only three shot attempts, of which only two were on goal, by New Mexico Highlands.
