CMU’s Mira Houck Awarded 2023 RMAC Women’s Soccer Summit Award
GOLDEN, Colo. – With a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, Colorado Mesa midfielder Mira Houck is the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Summit Award winner, the league announced Friday.
The redshirt junior takes home the coveted academic achievement after completing 77 credit hours towards her sociology degree. Houck, a native of Thornton, Colo., has appeared in all 19 matches the Mavericks have played, starting 18 of those. She has three goals on the year in 1,405 minutes logged.
Houck has contributed considerably in three seasons at Colorado Mesa, having recorded three game-winning goals as a Maverick. Additionally, she has helped CMU to a 14-3-1 record this season and a United Soccer Coaches’ Poll ranking as high as No. 4 in hopes of returning to the NCAA Division II Championship for the first time in 12 years.
Houck will receive her award before Sunday’s RMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship match against two-seed Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. The Mavericks will meet the Orediggers on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. MT, at Stermole Soccer Stadium. The broadcast of the RMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament championship will be aired live on the
RMAC Network. Fans can watch the contest by purchasing a viewing pass on the RMAC Network for $9.95.
To be eligible for the RMAC Summit Award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above academically and in their second year or later with their current institution. Student-athletes must be active members of their current roster, have competed in at least 20 percent of available competitions and travel and compete at the championship or tournament finals site. Student-athletes who transfer after completing their undergraduate degree are not eligible to win the award.
