COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adams State’s Romain Legendre and Colorado Mesa’s Justin Thompson are the week one Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Romain Legendre, Adams State – Jr. – Carpentras, France
Legendre opened the season with an outstanding performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville meet in Boston, Mass., over the weekend. The junior participated in the 5k and set a program and NCAA Division II record with a time of 13:24.09, beating the previous DII record by over four seconds. This record-setting performance not only earned Legendre RMAC Track Athlete of the Week honors but also U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Athlete of the Week distinctions as well. Adams State returns to action this weekend at the Mountaineer Open, hosted by Western Colorado in Gunnison, Colo.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Justin Thompson, Colorado Mesa – R-Sr. – Carbondale, Colo.
In Colorado Mesa’s season opener, Justin Thompson took first place in the long jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 7.56 meters. His effort bested a field of 26 jumpers and ranks second among DII and fifth among collegiate jumpers this season. Thompson then dominated on the track as well and set a personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.07 seconds. Thompson and the Mavs get back to work on Dec. 8, at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi in Colorado Springs, Colo., hosted by University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
