Joseph Celentano and Ethan Ferrie Collect RMAC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Westminster’s Joseph Celentano and Colorado State University Pueblo’s Ethan Ferrie are the Week One Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Celentano earns Offensive Player of the Week after the Griffins’ opening game last weekend when he scored a career-high five goals. While peppering the net, the junior was efficient with five scores on nine shots for a 55.6-percent shooting average in Westminster’s 15-11 season opener.
 
The Griffins will continue their season on the road as they travel to St. Louis, Mo., to take on Maryville University on Friday, Feb. 24,  where the opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m. MT.
 
Ferrie claims Defensive Player of the Week after leading the defensive efforts for the ThunderWolves last week. The goalie recorded 27 saves, collected five groundballs and forced two turnovers in 117 minutes of play for CSU Pueblo.
 
The Pack will take the next two weekends off before heading back out on the road to Salt Lake City, Utah, to face Lynn on Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Joseph Celentano, Westminster– Jr. – M – Oakland, Calif.
Celentano led the Griffins’ offense in a narrow setback against the Greyhounds last week. The junior collected five goals in the game, including a trio of goals that came within the first half. He also helped the Griffins out of the defensive side with a trio of ground balls.
 
Honorable Mention: Logan Naves, CSU Pueblo.
 
Defensive Player of the Week: Ethan Ferrie, CSU Pueblo – Gr. – Goalie – Littleton, Colo.  
Ferrie headlined the ThunderWolves’ defense with 27 saves on 102 shots faced last week. In Friday’s slide to Rockhurst, the graduate student registered 13 saves for a 37.4 save percentage. The Littleton, Colo., native earned the start again on Saturday and registered 14 saves, five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
