Cam Yuran and John Hoffman Claim Week Three RMAC Baseball Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Cam Yuran and University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ John Hoffman are the Week Three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Yuran claims his first Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Roadrunners (9-2) to a 3-1 record last weekend. The sophomore was a hitting machine for MSU Denver and posted a .688 batting average (11-for-16). Yuran registered a 1.977 OPS, including a .727 on-base percentage, by drawing five walks. Among his 11 hits, Yuran collected six RBIs, two home runs and two doubles.
The Roadrunners will now return home to Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver, Colo., for a three-game set with University of Mary, which begins on Friday, Feb. 24, at noon MT.
Hoffman earns his first Pitcher of the Week distinction of the season after a pair of strong outings in the Mountain Lions’ (3-9) 2-2 outing last week. The redshirt sophomore allowed six hits and two runs over eight innings of work and closed his showing with eight strikeouts and four walks.
UCCS will now return home to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a four-game series against Sioux Falls (S.D.) starting Friday, Feb. 24. First pitch of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Park.

Yuran had an impressive showing during the Roadrunners pod weekend in Pittsburg, Kan. The outfielder went 1-for-3 in the weekend opener with two walks and one RBI, leading the Roadrunners’ massive 21-11 win over Sioux Falls. In game two, the sophomore went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and two walks in Saturday’s 15-4 win. In the nightcap, Yuran went 5-for-5 knocking in three runs, a double and a pair of home runs in Saturday’s narrow 6-5 loss to Pittsburg State. In the weekend finale, Yuran picked up three more base knocks going 3-for-5 with two RBIs in a 14-8 win over the Gorillas.

Hoffman earned his first win of the season on Tuesday pitching 4.2 innings while surrendering just two runs on six hits to go along with four strikeouts in an 8-3 win over Colorado State University Pueblo. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native then came in for 3.1 innings of relief in Sunday’s 8-7 win over NCAA Division I opponent Northern Colorado, registering no hits, no runs and four strikeouts.
