Abi Read and Brooklynn Jones Named RMAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Abi Read and Brooklynn Jones are the Week One Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.
Read claimed a second-place finish in the 10,000-meters event last weekend at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio CSU Pueblo Early Bird Invite with a personal-best time of 36:24.74. Read finished 34 seconds behind the first-place finisher and claimed an NCAA Division II provisional time along the way.
Jones placed second in the javelin throw with a mark of 39.87m at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio CSU Pueblo Early Bird Invite. The freshman was the first NCAA DII athlete to place, finishing .45m behind an NCAA DI competitor.
The Roadrunners will now return to Pueblo, Colo., for the Spank Blasing Invitational, a two-day event, which begins on Friday, March 24, at the CSU ThunderBowl.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Abi Read, MSU Denver – Jr. – Brighton, Colo
Read claims the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor after clocking a time of 36:24.74 in the 10,000m last weekend. The Brighton, Colo., native currently ranks second in the conference and sixth on the NCAA DII performance list following her latest performance.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Brooklynn Jones, MSU Denver – Fr. – Colby, Kan.
Jones earns the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor after claiming second place in the javelin event last weekend at her first collegiate meet. The mark places her into the Roadrunners’ record book as the best javelin throw in program history.
