Matthew Storer, Sawyer Christopher Named RMAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Christian’s Matthew Storer and University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Sawyer Christopher are the Week One Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.
Storer claims RMAC Track Athlete of the Week after opening the indoor season with a first-place finish in the 10,000-meter race at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio CSU Pueblo Early Bird Invite in Pueblo, Colo., with an altitude-adjusted time of 28:57.48. The sophomore ran an NCAA Division II provisional time to best 22 runners for his first collegiate outdoor track and field victory.
The Cougars will take a week off before returning to the track on Friday, March 31, for the CSU Pueblo Invite No. 3 in Pueblo, Colo.
Christopher claims Field Athlete of the Week after putting forth an impressive performance in the javelin throw while also at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio CSU Pueblo Early Bird Invite last weekend. The redshirt junior earned a second-place finish with a toss of 57.83m. His mark currently leads the conference by more than seven meters and ranks ninth on the latest NCAA DII performance list.
The Mountain Lions will return to Pueblo, Colo., for the Spank Blasing Invitational, a two-day event, which begins on Friday, March 24.

Storer is the RMAC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after a first-place finish in his season debut last weekend. Storer currently sits atop of the NCAA DII performance list with his time of 28:57.48 in the 10,000m race after leading a pack of five Cougars among the event’s top 10 finishers.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Sawyer Christopher, UCCS – R-Jr. – St. Helen’s, Ore.
Christopher is the RMAC Men’s Field Athlete of the week after a second-place finish in the javelin throw last weekend. He bested the third-place finisher by 7.25m and was the first NCAA DII athlete to place in a field of 15 competitors. He narrowly lost by .69m to NCAA DI competitor from Air Force.
