Nathan Liderman and Dylan Checketts Collect RMAC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo’s Nathan Liderman and Colorado Mesa’s Dylan Checketts are the Week Four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Liderman earns his first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after recording four goals in the Thunderwolves’ (0-4) loss to Lynn last weekend. All four of Liderman’s goals were unassisted and his first goal came within the opening 10 minutes of the game. The freshman was efficient with four goals on five shots for an 80-percent shooting average in Saturday’s result against Lynn.
The Pack will now begin conference play against Westminster on Monday, March 6, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The opening faceoff between the ThunderWolves and Griffins is slated for 3 p.m. MT on Dumke Field.
Checketts claims Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Mavericks’ (5-1) defense in a pair of wins over the weekend. limiting their opponents to a combined 13 goals in a pair of wins last weekend. The junior registered 15 ground balls and won 16 out of 18 faceoffs in Friday’s 16-6 win over Rockhurst. Checketts took charge once again in the faceoff circle and won 66 percent of his faceoffs in Saturday’s dominant 21-7 victory over Quincy.
Colorado Mesa will now travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to take on Rollins College in a neutral-site matchup on Saturday, March 11, which is set to begin at 11 a.m. MT at Westminster’s Dumke Field.
Offensive Player of the Week: Nathan Liderman, CSU Pueblo – Fr. – M – Bend, Ore.
Liderman registered the first four goals of his collegiate career in Saturday’s loss to Lynn. The freshman’s first goal came in the opening 10 minutes of the game to put the ThunderWolves on the board. He then tacked on another unassisted finish in the second period before adding two more scores in the second half.
Honorable Mention: Jed Brummett, Colorado Mesa.
Defensive Player of the Week: Dylan Checketts, Colorado Mesa – Jr. – Faceoff – Herriman, Utah.
Checketts led the defensive charge in the Mavericks’ two wins last weekend when he combined for 19 groundballs and a 78 percent success rate for his faceoffs. The Herriman, Utah, native currently leads the conference in groundballs (44) and faceoff percentage (69.2).
