COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2022-23 Men’s Indoor Track and Field Major Awards along with its all-conference rosters Wednesday morning. University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Evan Graff is the RMAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, while Colorado State University Pueblo’s Nate Miller is the RMAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. Western Colorado’s Tyler Nord claims the RMAC Men’s Freshman of the Year title and UCCS head coach Ross Fellows is the league’s Men’s Coach of the Year.

Graff claims RMAC Track Athlete of the Year distinctions after a successful indoor season where he earned United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors in three events, including the mile, 3,000-meter and distance medley relay races. He was named the RMAC Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 24) for his performance at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite, where he broke the facility record in the mile with an altitude and track-adjusted time of 4:00.22. Graff took second place at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000m with a time of 8:29.14.

Miller claims RMAC Field Athlete of the Year honors after earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both the shot put and the weight throw. The senior enters the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships ranked second in the nation in the shot put after launching a 19.35m (63-6 ft) provisional mark earlier this season at the New Mexico Team Open (Jan. 27) in Albuquerque, N.M. Additionally, Miller ranks 19th nationally in the weight throw with an effort of 19.22m (63-.75) at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships (Feb. 24).

Nord earns Freshman of the Year honors after a stellar freshman campaign where he claimed USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 3,000m. Ahead of nationals, he ranks sixth in the 3,000m race after clocking a first-place time of 7:57.34 at the RMAC Championships. He also ranks 12th as a part of the Mountaineers distance medley relay squad that posted a time of 9:45.07 at the Mines Winter Classic and Multi (Feb. 3).

UCCS head coach Ross Fellows was named the RMAC Coach of the Year after leading the Mountain Lions to their fourth consecutive indoor conference championship in February. Fellows has 11 all-region selections among his men’s roster and nine qualifiers, among eight events, for the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships. Ahead of the national meet, Fellows and his UCCS men’s program rank fifth in the nation, according to the latest USTFCCCA rankings.

RMAC Indoor Track and Field Major Awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches. Coaches are not permitted to vote for themselves or their student-athletes. The league’s all-conference teams are determined by finishes at the RMAC Indoor Championships. Top-three finishers in each race are named first-team selections, while the fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers are tabbed second-team selections. For relay events, the first-place team is named the first team and the second-place team is named the second team.
