Matt Marlow, Ryan Garcia Claim Week 10 RMAC Baseball Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Regis’ Matt Marlow and Ryan Garcia are the Week 10 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Player of the Week: Matt Marlow, Regis – Sr. – 1B – Flower Mound, Texas
Marlow claims his first RMAC Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the Rangers (18-16, 9-7 RMAC) to a series sweep over University of Colorado Colorado Springs last weekend. The first baseman registered a .687 batting average (11-for-16) including three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI for a 1.956 OPS. Defensively, Marlow collected 24 putouts and added two assists for the Rangers.
 
Marlow led the offensive charge for the Rangers recording at least one hit in the four-game sweep over the Mountain Lions. In Thursday’s series opener, the senior went 5-for-5, including a game-winning double that drove home a pair of runs in the eighth inning to boost Regis to the 7-5 win. In the second game of the series, the Flower Mound, Texas, native tallied 11 putouts in the field as Regis secured an 8-7 win. In game three, Marlow batted 1.000 in three plate appearances and tagged a two-run shot in the first inning to spark the 11-0 win. In the series finale, Marlow went 2-for-4 with a double and home run in the 12-5 victory. The senior currently leads the conference with a .488 batting average, which also ranks second in the nation.

Pitcher of the Week: Ryan Garcia, Regis – Fr. – LHP – Vail, Ariz.
Garcia earns his first RMAC Pitcher of the Week distinction of the season after allowing only one hit through seven innings of work last weekend against the Mountain Lions. The redshirt senior surrendered one walk and zero runs with seven strikeouts for his first win of the season.  
 
Garcia only needed 96 pitches throughout seven innings of work in the Rangers’ 11-0 shutout win over the Mountain Lions on Saturday. The Vail, Ariz., native held his opponents to a .045 batting average in his lone appearance.
 
The Rangers will now travel to Golden, Colo., to face Colorado School of Mines in a four-game set starting on Friday, April 14. The opening pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT at Jim Darden Field and will be broadcast on the RMAC Network.
