Haley Dostie, Shannon Murphy Grab Weekly RMAC Women’s Lacrosse Distinctions
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Lewis’ (2-8, 2-5 RMAC) Haley Dostie and Colorado Mesa’s (7-5, 6-1 RMAC) Shannon Murphy are the Week Eight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Haley Dostie, Fort Lewis – Jr. – A – Parker, Colo.
Dostie continued her dominant junior campaign over the weekend when she combined for 11 points on eight goals and three assists over two appearances. The Parker, Colo., native was spectacular in the Skyhawks’ narrow loss to Colorado Mesa on Friday when she accounted for one assist and four unassisted goals on seven shots. She then bounced back with four more goals, two unassisted, and two dimes in Sunday’s 14-13 victory over Westminster.
The junior attacker now owns 35 goals on the year, a team-best mark, leads the RMAC with 4.1 points per game and stands second in the league with 3.5 goals per game. In addition to her scoring antics last weekend, Dostie racked up six ground balls and six draw controls, including a win-sealing draw control in the final 44 seconds of play against Westminster.
Fort Lewis returns to action on Saturday, April 22, where it will host Colorado State University Pueblo. Opening faceoff is slated for 1 p.m. MT at Ray Dennison Memorial Field in Durango, Colo.
