Chadron State College President Randy Rhine Honored by RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Awards
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced that heading into the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the meet’s Athlete of the Meet awards will henceforth be renamed in honor of Chadron State College President Randy Rhine. The President Randy Rhine RMAC Athlete of the Meet awards will be presented to the athletes that score the most points at the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
“We are incredibly proud to be able to honor one of the RMAC’s most staunch supporters by renaming our outdoor track and field individual honors,” said RMAC Commissioner Chris Graham. “President Rhine has been a committed member of the RMAC and we are thrilled to honor his legacy at Chadron State.”
Throughout his tenure leading Chadron State College, President Rhine has also been a leader on the RMAC Presidents’ Council, the league’s top governing body, as well as an avid track and field supporter. Since January 2013, when President Rhine took his current position at Chadron State College, he has overseen a wealth of improvements to his institution’s campus, including many of the school’s athletic facilities.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful to have my name associated with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and its wonderful student-athletes,” said President Rhine. “The RMAC is a premier conference, particularly in track and field and cross country, which makes this distinction even more humbling. I have loved track and field for many years and for the RMAC to recognize me in this way is special.”
Under his guidance, Chadron State athletics has seen renovations to the Chicoine Center, the Armstrong Weight Room, Elliott Field at Beebe Stadium and the outdoor track and field facility, which is the host site of the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His support for the student-athletes of Chadron State, and the RMAC as a league, is unparalleled and is consistently proven through his work on the RMAC Presidents’ Council.
“This is an exciting and fitting announcement for Dr. Rhine,” Chadron State Athletic Director Joel Smith. “He has been an exceptional supporter of RMAC Track and Field.”
The inaugural President Randy Rhine RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Meet awards will be presented upon the conclusion of the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which begin Friday, April 28, and conclude on Sunday, April 30. The event is hosted by Chadron State at the Eagles’ newly updated outdoor track and field facility.
