AJ Switzer, Ethan Ferrie Earn RMAC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s AJ Switzer and Colorado State University Pueblo’s Ethan Ferrie are the season’s final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: AJ Switzer, Colorado Mesa – R-Jr. – A – Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.  
Switzer earns RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this season after leading the No. 12 Mavs’ (14-2, 6-0 RMAC) attack in a pair of home victories last weekend. The redshirt junior combined for nine points on six goals and three assists while stamping a 69.2-percent shots-on-goal average.  
 
In Friday’s 22-3 win over CSU Pueblo, Switzer registered two goals on eight shots and two assists. He then became the fourth Maverick in program history to record 100 career goals in CMU’s 27-4 win over Adams State to close out the regular season. The Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., native currently ranks 12th in the nation with 2.25 assists per game and 15th with 4.56 points per game. Switzer has scored 26 of his 37 goals this season against conference opponents to go along with 18 assists in conference play.

Defensive Player of the Week: Ethan Ferrie, CSU Pueblo – Gr. – Goalie – Littleton, Colo.  
Ferrie claims RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after registering a career-high 29 saves in the ThunderWolves’ (1-12, 1-5 RMAC) lone game last weekend.
 
After 51 minutes of play against the Mavericks, Ferrie recorded a career-high 29 saves for a CSU Pueblo program record once again after accomplishing the feat with 24 in a game earlier this season. He faced 75 shots while in the net for a 63-percent save average. The 29 saves are also a season-high in the conference and bring Ferrie’s career total to 555. The Littleton, Colo., native currently leads the conference with 203 saves for the 2023 campaign.
 
The Mavericks and ThunderWolves will now play in the 2023 RMAC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament, which begins on Thursday, May 4, in Grand Junction, Colo. Colorado Mesa earns the tournament’s No. 1 seed and will play No. 4 Adams State at 4 p.m. CSU Pueblo enters as the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 Westminster in the semifinals at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The RMAC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament will be broadcast on the RMAC Network.
