Zoe Baker Named RMAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Zoe Baker is the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday. Baker headlines the 2023 RMAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic First Team and earns the fourth Academic Athlete of the Year honor of her decorated career. The RMAC All-Academic First Team is voted on by the league’s sports information directors. When voting, sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their student-athletes.
Baker claims the RMAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field academic honor after earning a 4.0 grade-point average in Mines’ computer science program. While holding a perfect GPA, Baker has also compiled an impressive resume on the track and qualified for both the 5,000-meter and 10,000m events at the upcoming 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Entering the national meet, Baker ranks fifth in the nation in the 5k event with a time of 16:07.72 and 13th nationally in the 10k race with a time of 34:32.98. The Longmont, Colo., native most recently earned a second-place finish at the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 16:29.31.
Colorado Mesa and Western Colorado lead the way among the RMAC All-Academic First Team with three honorees each. Josie Coffey, Jordan Burnett and Mica Jenrette represent the Mavericks, while Allison Beasley, Katie Doucette and Kaiya Firor represent the Mountaineers. Joining Baker on the roster from Colorado School of Mines is Hannah Miller. University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Audrey Bloomquist and Westminster’s Saydi Anderson fill out the remainder of the first-team roster.
There are five student-athletes on the first team with a 4.0 GPA, including Baker, Bloomquist, Burnett Coffey and Anderson.
