CSU Pueblo’s Minna Archer Named RMAC Women’s Golfer and Freshman of the Year
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo’s Minna Archer concludes the 2022-23 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Golf season in impressive fashion after headlining the postseason rosters in addition to earning the league’s Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. University of Colorado Colorado Springs head coach Todd Laxson was voted the RMAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year. In addition to its individual honors, the RMAC also announced its 2022-23 Women’s Golf All-Conference rosters, which contain 16 student-athletes from seven of the league’s institutions.
Archer earns the league’s Women’s Golfer and Freshman of the Year honors after closing the book on an impressive freshman campaign that contained a pair of tournament victories, five top-10 finishes and a trio of top-5 finishes. The Bradenton, Fla., native finished the 2022-23 campaign ranked 70th in the nation, the highest individual ranking in the RMAC. Archer averaged a score of 75.8 throughout her debut season with the Pack and captured 22 head-to-head victories over top-100 competitors within NCAA Division II. She tied for ninth place individually at the 2023 RMAC Women’s Golf Championship after sinking 28 pars, seven birdies and one eagle throughout the three-round event.
University of Colorado Colorado Springs head coach Todd Laxson is the RMAC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Mountain Lions to a top-five finish at the RMAC Golf Championship. Laxson guided Emily Shimkus and Samantha Saile to top-15 finishes at the conference event and a No. 94 team national ranking to close out the 2022-23 season.
Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa lead the way among all-conference selections with four honorees each. CSU Pueblo checks in next with a trio of selections, followed by South Dakota Mines’ two roster spots. Metropolitan State University of Denver, Regis and UCCS round out the 2022-23 RMAC Women’s Golf All-Conference rosters with one spot each.
