Gabriel Legendre, Rider Grow and Diego Chavez are the Week Four RMAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Lewis’ Gabriel Legendre, South Dakota Mines’ Rider Grow and Colorado Mesa’s Diego Chavez are the Week Four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Gabriel Legendre, Fort Lewis – Jr. – F – Rio Rancho, N.M.
Legendre was outstanding in guiding the Skyhawks to a perfect 2-0 weekend with wins over Adams State and Metropolitan State University of Denver by scores of 5-1 and 2-1, respectively. Against the Grizzlies, the junior striker led Fort Lewis with six shots, four on goal, while finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute. Two days later, he played a pivotal role against the Roadrunners and scored the equalizer in the 18th minute on his lone shot of the contest. He continued to play a key role for the Skyhawks’ attack and dished out an assist to Anton Hjalmarsson in the 48th minute to seal the win over MSU Denver.

Defensive Player of the Week: Rider Grow, South Dakota Mines – Fr. – D – Colorado Springs, Colo.
Grow was a force for the Hardrockers over the weekend, helping his team earn a 1-1 split against MSU Denver and Adams State to close out the non-conference schedule. The freshman secured the game-winning goal with a header in the 88th minute that boosted the Hardrockers to a 2-1 result on the road over the Grizzlies. All told, the defender logged 135 minutes on the pitch over the weekend and helped South Dakota Mines to its second victory in its last three matches.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Diego Chavez, Colorado Mesa – R-So. – GK – Longmont, Colo.
Chavez wraps up his second consecutive RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week nod after yet another stellar week in the net for the Mavericks. The redshirt sophomore was lights out in a pair of appearances in which he logged 180 minutes on the pitch. The Longmont, Colo., native allowed just one goal all weekend, but compiled a combined eight saves in Friday’s 3-1 win over Regis and Sunday’s 2-0 shutout victory over Colorado Christian. Chavez currently leads the RMAC with 43 saves on the season and ranks fourth in the league with a 0.87 goals-against average heading into week five.
