Regis’ Bunch, UCCS’ Kinsey and Whitmore Honored as Week Four RMAC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Regis’ (6-2, 2-0 RMAC) Natalie Bunch joins University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ (4-2-2, 2-0 RMAC) Jade Kinsey and Isabella Whitmore as the Week Four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Natalie Bunch, Regis – So. – F – Moses Lake, Wash.
Bunch had a tremendous weekend for the Rangers, accounting for three of the team's four goals in a pair of 2-1 victories over MSU Denver and Colorado Christian last weekend. Bunch scored both goals in Friday’s win over the Roadrunners on just four shot attempts. She then concluded the weekend in style with another game-winning goal in the 86th minute on the road against the Cougars. Bunch’s six goals this season are the second most in the RMAC and already double the three goals she scored in her freshman campaign.
Honorable Mention: Jayda Hammer, Black Hills State; Haley Klasner, Colorado Mesa; Ashley Bennett, CSU Pueblo; Monica Yoder, MSU Denver; Ciara Garcia, UCCS; Necie Gubler, Westminster.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jade Kinsey, UCCS – R-Sr. – D – Colorado Springs, Colo.
Kinsey only played in Thursday's win over No. 15 Colorado School of Mines but gave the Mountain Lions peace of mind in the defensive third. The Orediggers were relentless in their effort to get the ball to the midfield, but Kinsey positioned herself perfectly to thwart the lofty Mines attack. A true lockdown performance from the center-back position, she took the pressure off her keeper and wingers with her patrol of the final third.
Honorable Mention: Allie Brown, Black Hills State; Kaydree Rapp, Colorado Mesa; Ariadna Membrives Lora, CSU Pueblo; Dani Nelson, MSU Denver.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Isabella Whitmore, UCCS – Gr. – GK – Arlington, Texas
Whitmore got off to an impeccable start in her first weekend of RMAC play, shutting out both 15th-ranked Colorado School of Mines and Western Colorado in a pair of 2-0 victories. She was the only keeper in the conference to earn two clean sheets over the weekend. Whitmore’s five saves in her two appearances ranked sixth in the conference, with her 2.50 saves per game slotting in eighth. She helped her squad beat a top-15 team for the second consecutive week and led the RMAC in save percentage and goals against average.
Honorable Mention: Makayla Dannelly, Black Hills State; Keely Wieczorek, Colorado Mesa; Nicole Genis, CSU Pueblo; Kylie Bach, MSU Denver; Mashaun Estridge, Westminster.
