Maggie Hutka, Olivia Reed Collect RMAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Christian’s (10-5, 6-3 RMAC) Maggie Hutka and Colorado Mesa’s (12-4, 6-3 RMAC) Olivia Reed are the Week Eight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Hutka enjoyed a memorable weekend after leading the Cougars to a pair of key RMAC victories over Westminster and Colorado Mesa. On Friday, the sophomore posted 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal in a 76-55 win over the Griffins. The following night at home, Hutka made a statement in the 65-63 win against the Mavericks with 31 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block. Up by two points with seven seconds remaining, her lone swat batted away CMU’s final attempt in the fourth quarter to complete a 10-point comeback by the Cougars. Hutka’s average of 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds this weekend has her tied for second in scoring (18.6 points per game) and inside the top-10 in rebounding (6.7) in the RMAC.

Defensive Player of the Week: Olivia Reed | Colorado Mesa | So. | F | Windsor, Colo.
For the weekend, Reed had 18 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots in a road split for the Mavericks. She had nine rebounds and two blocks in each contest, a 70-49 victory over Chadron State and a 63-65 setback against Colorado Christian. The sophomore came up with three steals against the Eagles on Friday to add to her 28 points and four assists, before adding 14 more points on Saturday against the Cougars. Reed shot 69.2 percent from the field on the weekend, including a pair of 3-point buckets in Friday’s contest against Chadron State.
