Marcus Mak Named RMAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Simon Fraser’s Marcus Mak is the Week Eight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Mak won three individual events in his first of two meets meet over the weekend and was a key figure in the Red Leafs’ dominant performances over UC Santa Cruz and Southwestern Oregon on Saturday. He claimed gold in the 100-yard freestyle (46.60), 100-yard backstroke (51.65) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:51.77) events. In addition to his solo performances, Mak contributed to Simon Fraser’s victorious 400-yard medley relay team, which finished nine seconds ahead of second place, by swimming the butterfly leg in a time of 50.71. The following day, the sophomore tabbed three podium finishes, two individual medals and one relay medal. His 200-yard freestyle time of 1:41.19 scored him a silver medal, while his 49.42 100-yard butterfly garnered a bronze medal. Mak and his teammates finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, wrapping up a weekend consisting of seven total medals.
