Kate Hedlund, Josie Coffey Take Home RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Kate Hedlund and Colorado Mesa’s Josie Coffey are the Week Five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.

Hedlund made her season debut for the Mountain Lions as UCCS traveled up to Golden, Colo., for the Mines Winter Classic. In her first action of the season, Hedlund was the opening leg of the distance medley relay team that went on to earn a first-place finish with a converted time of 11:31.40. That converted time currently holds the No. 1 mark in the RMAC and NCAA Division II this season. Hedlund then returned to the track on Saturday for the mile event, in which she crossed the finish line with a 4:55.11 for her second gold medal of the weekend. After adjusting for altitude, Hedlund’s mile performance dropped to 4:43.49 and now ranks third in the RMAC and fourth in the nation this season.
