Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Miguel Coca, Adams State – Sr. – Las Vegas, N.M.
Coca was a blur on the track for the Grizzlies as he ran a mile time that garnered attention from every spectator in attendance. The senior ran his mile in 4:00.31, altitude-adjusted to 3:55.08, a mark that stands as the ninth-fastest performance in NCAA Division II history. Not only did Coca etch his name in the NCAA record books, but he also recorded the fastest mile performance in the history of Albuquerque, N.M., edging the city’s previous record holder and 1500-meter world champion, Josh Kerr. The Grizzlies will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, N.M.
