Danny Woodhead Named to National Football Foundation Hall of Fame

IRVING, Texas – Former Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead has been announced as an inductee to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class, the organization announced Monday. Woodhead is part of a class that features 19 players and three coaches following a storied career within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the National Football League (NFL).
 
After closing his collegiate career as a two-time Harlon Hill Award winner at Chadron State, Woodhead embarked upon his professional career as college football’s all-time leading rusher with 7,962 yards. Throughout his four years leading the Eagles in the RMAC, Woodhead paced Chadron State to 35 wins and just 11 losses, including a pair of conference titles in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Along with his Harlon Hill Awards, he also finished his collegiate career as a three-time All-American, a two-time Academic All-American, a NFF National Scholar-Athlete and was named a finalist for the Campbell Trophy.
 
Following his Illustrious collegiate career, in which he amassed 9,480 all-purpose yards, he declared for the NFL Draft in 2008. While he went undrafted, he was ultimately signed by the New York Jets as a free agent, marking the beginning of what would become a 10-year professional career. In addition to the Jets’ organization, Woodhead also played for the New England Patriots, where he competed in Super Bowl XLVI, the San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens. He finished his professional career with 32 touchdowns and 4,936 all-purpose yards.
 
The 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class will be officially inducted during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner, presented by Las Vegas, on Dec. 10, 2024, at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
