COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its latest RMAC Men’s Golfer of the Week award on Thursday, with Colorado Mesa’s Cole Beyer claiming the award after a strong showing in Amarillo, Texas.
Men’s Golfer of the Week: Cole Beyer, Colorado Mesa (Sr., Woodburn, Oregon)
Beyer was phenomenal for the Mavericks, in the Ryan Palmer Invitational at the par-70 Amarillo Country Club. He got the tournament started with a 2-under par 68 in Round 1 and a 4-under par 66 in Round 2, ending the day with 134. Beyer caught fire in Round 3, shooting a 7-under 63 to claim the individual title by six strokes. The 63 is the second-best score in Maverick history and the second-best score in relation to par at 7-under. The senior’s 54-hole score of 197 broke the CMU program record by five strokes.
