Martin, Boyte, and Lambos Take Home RMAC Volleyball Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 8 RMAC Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday. Colorado Mesa’s Nicole Martin, Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Alyssa Boyte, and Fort Lewis’ Natalia Lambos claim the Offensive, Defensive, and Setter of the Week honors, respectively.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Nicole Martin, Colorado Mesa (So., MH, Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Martin led the Mavericks to a pair of sweeps over Chadron State and Colorado Christian last week, pushing her squad to a 17-3 record. Against the Eagles, Martin recorded 14 kills on 24 attempts, posting 4.67 kills per set. Four days later, the sophomore racked up 13 more kills on .579 hitting and 4.33 kills per set. On the weekend, Martin had 27 kills at a .535 clip, 4.50 kills per set, and 4.75 points per set. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native is tied for the second-highest hitting percentage in the RMAC this season (.366).

Defensive Player of the Week: Alyssa Boyte, MSU Denver (Fr., MB, Allen, Texas)
Boyte helped shut down opposing offenses as the No. 1 team in the nation improved to 19-1 on the season. Boyte started the week by recording three digs, four blocks, and ten points against Colorado School of Mines. She followed that up with four more digs, five blocks, and 5.5 points against Adams State. Against the Grizzlies, Boyte paced a defense that limited ASU to 17 or fewer points in each of the matches’ three sets. The freshman capped off the weekend against Colorado State University Pueblo by recording two digs, four blocks, and 10.5 points, as the Roadrunners held the ThunderWolves to 14 or fewer points in each set.

Setter of the Week: Natalia Lambos, Fort Lewis (Sr., S, Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Lambos led the Skyhawks to impressive home wins over Regis and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs over the weekend. Against the Rangers, Lambos tallied 55 assists for 13.75 assists per set as the Skyhawks toppled the Rangers for the first time since 2008. During Saturday's match, the setter had more in the tank, as she matched her career-high in assists (58) and guided all five of her attackers to double-digit kills. Since the start of conference play, Lambos ranks fourth in the RMAC with 10.40 assists per set.
