COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Week 5 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards were announced Tuesday. Colorado State University Pueblo’s Caio Olivera and Ignatius DeMark earn the Offensive and Defensive awards, respectively, while South Dakota Mines’ Daniel Freitas claims the Goalkeeper honor.
Offensive Player of the Week
Caio Olivera, CSU Pueblo (Senior, Midfield, Espigao d’Oeste, Brazil)
Olivera helped CSU Pueblo jump out to a 2-0 week to start RMAC play. In Thursday’s matchup, Olivera recorded two points and one shot on goal, with his shot finding the back of the net. In the ThunderWolves’ next match, the senior recorded five more shots on goal, with another in the back of the net. For the week, Oliveira totaled 10 shots, six shots on goal, four points, and two goals scored.

Defensive Player of the Week
Ignatius DeMark, CSU Pueblo (Senior, Defender, Phoenix, Arizona)
DeMark recorded 180 minutes played in CSU Pueblo’s two victories against Metropolitan State University of Denver and Colorado School of Mines. The senior defender recorded a pair of assists and helped lead a CSU Pueblo defense which only allowed two goals and five shots on goal in two matches. DeMark was also getting it done on the offensive end, as he earned the first assist in Thursday's 3-1 win at MSU Denver. He followed it up with another assist in Sunday's 2-1 win in Golden, Colorado.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Daniel Freitas, South Dakota Mines (Junior, Goalkeeper, Omaha, Nebraska)
Freitas helped the Hardrockers start RMAC play 2-0, as he recorded 135 minutes of action. In Friday’s match against Westminster, the junior directed a defense that only allowed two shots on goal. His defensive leadership carried into Sunday’s match against Colorado Mesa, as Freitas played all 90 minutes and made 11 saves. With the help of Freitas, the Hardrockers currently hold the No. 5 seed in the RMAC with matches against Fort Lewis and Adams State next on their schedule.
