Scoggin notched two swimming event wins, Juarros secured third-place place finish in diving at CMU’s Intermountain Shootout

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa senior swimmer Andrew Scoggin and sophomore diver Jax Juarros swept the season’s second set of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week Awards.
 
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Andrew Scoggin, Colorado Mesa (Senior, Greeley, Colorado)
Squaring off against Division I members Utah and BYU, Scoggin won the 100-yard backstroke and was a member of Colorado Mesa’s winning 400-yard medley relay and second-place 200-yard medley relay teams at the Intermountain Shootout. On the meet’s first day, Scoggin won the 100-yard backstroke in 49.56. He also had a 49.15 split as a member of the 400 medley relay team, which is the nation’s fastest 100-yard time this season. Saturday saw Scoggins finish his 50-yard leg of the 200 medley team in 23.06. He then posted a mark of 1:50.89 in the 200-yard backstroke, the fourth-fastest time in Division II this season. Scoggins also competed in the 100-yard freestyle race, posting a time of 47.16. [All times are altitude adjusted]

Men’s Diver of the Week
Jax Juarros, Colorado Mesa (Sophomore, Gilbert, Arizona)
Juarros finished third in 1-meter diving competition during Colorado Mesa’s Intermountain Shootout, which saw the Mountaineers face BYU and Utah. He completed a set of six dives with a score of 267.90 to finish behind a pair of BYU divers in the nine-person event. On Saturday, he set the first of two needed NCAA qualifying scores in a non-scoring exhibition event.
