Match Recaps
Match 7: #7 Fort Lewis vs. No. 1 Colorado School of Mines
The Orediggers attacked the Skyhawks early, getting four shots off in the first 10 minutes of action, with McDermott scoring the game’s lone goal in the 13th minute with a 20-yard laser to the back of the net. Fort Lewis refused to end the first half quietly as Josie Coulter, Sabrina Reyes, and Rachel Peebles tallied shots toward the Oredigger’s goal to end the first half.
The second half was a defensive showcase for both squads, as they combined for three total shots on goal. As the game began to wind down, Fort Lewis started an imposing offensive attack, working their way into the Oredigger’s zone. However, the No. 1 team in the nation held strong under the Skyhawk pressure, closing out the game with a 1-0 advantage.
Five other Orediggers, Bella Campos, Allie Lundgren, Lauren Clingman, Callie Fuhr, and Cloey Seltzer, joined MVP McDermott on the All-Tournament Team. The Skyhawks earned four spots on the All-Tournament team with McKenna Ford, Amber Otts, Ashlyn Salas, and Sabrina Reyes. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Taylynn Levi and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Monica Yoder completed the 12-person roster.
Following the win, the Orediggers await the announcement of their opponent in the NCAA DII Women’s Soccer Championship, which they will learn on Monday, Nov. 18, during the NCAA selection show. The NCAA selection show will be broadcast live on
